Community Partners

"Investigating North Nashville" is a cross-listed course between the English and Psychology departments at Fisk University that focuses on community outreach in North Nashville, social justice, and qualitative research. The course is interdisciplinary, and students work with community groups in North Nashville to preserve the memories and legacies of spaces that are being pushed out and erased due to gentrification and development in the neighborhood. Students develop qualitative and archival research methods, then pair those methods with creative skills such as photo-voice projects, oral history recordings, and digital projects.
